I have to say, I certainly thought twice about sharing this first video of my son Brock with you.
After all, I got pretty choked up when Lisa was filming it, and after watching it on my home computer, I wasn’t convinced that I should share this side of myself.
But…
Lisa talked me into posting it here on the site so I could share it with you.
And while it made me a little bit nervous, I’m glad I decided to do it.
Who would’ve thought that a little video could have such an impact?
I’ve been receiving a flood of replies from folks, thanking me for the video and telling me what an impact it had on them.
Here’s Just a few of those comments:
Kevin,
I had just finished writing this email to a family member:
Janna,
You trigger a memory from 1979. Remember the days when our little family lived upstairs on Alden Road?
On Dec. 5th of that year our heart-challenged little boy died of pneumonia at the age of 8 months.
But we really just remember what a sweet little fellow he was with his brown eyes, wispy hair, olive skin and the tenderest smile. Oh yes, and that barrel chest holding those organs so connected to the heavens. Oh, and his Gramma King being with us when he slipped away from our arms into the angels'.
Kevin, the next thing I did was see your email. I watched the video of Brock and felt my eyes tearing up - especially to watch you simply holding your baby, observing him, being quiet with him and expressing wonder and thankfulness.
Someone Above timed it just right for me today.
In friendship.

Hi Kevin, I'm sure you will probably get hundreds of emails responding to the video, but I just wanted to let you know how cute he is!! You sound like such a wonderful dad and I love that you and Lisa are able to finally have one of you own! :) Have a great weekend!

Kevin,
Congratulations about Brock. He's a beautiful baby. You are a proud father; he's surely the Apple Of Your Eye.
Listen...
Enjoy this now. In about three weeks (...or so it will seem) he'll be asking you to borrow the car keys for his first date. :-)

Ok...you should have put a 'tissue-alert' on that one! LOL....
What a proud Papa and cute little guy (Brock, of course)!
Thanks for the video... it was a bright spot in my day!

Kevin,
More people should send these types of videos out to their lists. This kind of stuff shows you're a real person.
My son was born 28 days ago (I also have a 2-year-old daughter), so I have a pretty good idea of what you're feeling. Congratulations!

Hi Kevin,
CONGRATULATIONS on your boy.
I am 80 years old, 3 children, all girls, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. I did want at least one boy very badly at the time to fly with me. I have all my life loved airplanes.
When I turned 76 my oldest daughter gave me 45 minutes of stunt flying time. I loved every second of it.
If I had my life to live over again, well…
Enjoy every second as before you know it, Brock will have a son.
Kindest regards to you and your family.

Hi Kevin,
Your son is priceless, those little fingers, and don't forget you have to kiss them on the top of their little heads.
